Resurrection of the project

It took nearly a year and the half of waiting before appropriate to the content – spark of creativity, motivation, passion and commitment, came together and sat me in front of Final Cut Pro. Pulled in to chaos of raw and messy video clip jigsaw, I could forget about world I know and focus on the world I miss.

Sensation extremely close to obsession, tinted by definite addiction, for the most of the time keeps me endlessly analyzing, cutting and pasting pieces of footage which now seem to be fresh as …

Year ends here.

As the year is about to close – trough forced on self humbility – I dare to be thankful for year another to begin.
[cliche alert] We take so many things for granted those days. Even THIS very statement.
I will remember 2010 as the first and/or last year used to learn that sometimes it really takes time to stand back up after even minor collapse. As Ireland continues to go under the next set of expectations, I feel like doing same thing with my life. (I’m very much in favor of …

Profemateours

Publishing on the internet allows authors to amend their statements in the most convenient and guilt-free way imaginable.
By saying this, I hope to be excused for an update to following column, as I feel some events lately brought me to much more relevant conclusions.
Undeniably, meaning of both terms: “amateur” and “professional” changed within the time possibly shorter than two decades.
My impression is that an amateur is closely nowadays associated with such words as sloppiness, disorganization and ineptitude. Professionalism however would be quite an opposite. A default description of excellence – …

Kiribati Film crew returns from the Island

Things we saw and moments we experienced on Christmas Island went beyond our imagination…
Since the very beginning, luck and – along with it – all the kindest people we could meet were on our side.
Temptation to express all the excitement behind all the amazing adventures we had, is becoming unbearable. Surely, those moments will be told by our film on which we now cant wait to work on…
As I’m writing this post, we are on our return journey back to Ireland. …

Kiribati Project – 25 days to departure

Time goes quicker than ever and day counter drops digits with concerning speed. Quite as departure would be associated with something unpleasant.
Surreal factors fade away as most of the pieces of our “to do” list are getting achieved.  Nearly entire equipment is now acquired. Most of the expenses and hassles – covered.
Tension grows and stress boils up as we realize what else is missing and how much is to learn on each field that could we possibly go wrong.
Film making part is our main objective, which took over everything else …

Rewinding old tapes: Modern Times

“Modern Times” is a serious social commentary in rather trivial frames of light comedy. Alike over sixty years ago – film is still relevant today and unless world changes drastically in the future – it will continue to be even more scary and less funny. Film essentially presents the story of a simple but extremely kind man caught in the traps of industrialized society. Despite Chaplin’s enormous success and wealth, he never forgot where he came from.
Resembling legendary Metropolis – opening scene – which compares workers boarding the subway to a …

Rewinding old tapes: Mulholland Drive

>This text does not contain any spoilers. It may be used however, as handy helper when watching movie for the first time<
After those few years after watching it for the first time, it’s now, when “Mulholland Drive” eventually elevated to my personal “best ever made” list. Clearly – it takes time. Certainly age and awareness that comes with it – to perceive art properly when consuming. Then adequately digesting it’s tasty vitamins for such mind pleasures. Unless you consider yourself sufficiently educated or naturally smart to the extend that allows …
