Fundraiser at “Exchange” – 14 days to go…

16 September 2010 No Comment

We are doing our best to fit preparation tasks in to tightening schedule, which at the moment leaves us with 14 precious days, before we travel from Ireland to Republic of Kiribati (Kiritimati).

Having entire project financed by own means, we are constantly dealing with budget-related problems. “Exchange” Gallery was generous enough, to support our final fundraiser action. “Kiribati Project” team was honored with a chance to present some of the artworks for sale. To express our gratitude, IT equipment will be donated to the gallery, which will hopefully contribute to ambitious practices and ideas, by which gallery is constantly occupied by. We are very excited about this privilege and are glad for recognition of our needs. Paintings, drawings and collages will be on display for potential purchase for one week. Then, exhibition is very likely to move in to the next location.

Mantra Train – “Sketches of Madrid”, 2008
Displayed drawings present part of substancially larger collection of drawings made in late 2008.
Along with spatial audio registration they are the result of in deep investigation of the city trough its various districts. Project is an effect of personal transition from the world of photography – back toward more primary tools of expression.

Nora Nieswandt – “Lost and Found”
Each of the four pieces is a narrative around an object found in the streets of Dublin. Inspired by the actual moment of the finding, the works are an interpretation of the objects origin combined with the creation of a story in the finders mind. In her works the artist captures the brief but intense confabulating moment when object and finder create a world of layers of time and truth.
